So I had to sit on my thoughts for a while after finishing this book because I couldn't tell if I enjoyed it. I felt utterly disgusted and disenchanted by the story - it was an incredibly depressing read. It was difficult to comprehend why certain events transpired in the story and I struggled to turn the page multiple times, in repulsion of what I might find.

But now after constantly picking at my brain, reevaluating the scenes, and connecting the dots - I have to say that the book is very effective in portraying what it intended. Having 3 POVs of various characters connected to the main girl broke down the misogyny and patriarchy experienced by all the characters. It built on the world that they learned to survive in and none of them enjoyed it.

I would reread this just to see what I missed with my new perspective. Motivated to read this author's other work and seeing what goes through her mind.
