This is the romance for all y’all who don’t love romance. It is so good, so smart, so full of depth, I absolutely loved it.
This was just the right mix of hopeful and dark. I loved being drawn into Eva and Shane’s shadowy pasts and then watching them rediscover each other as adults. I felt as magnetically drawn to this story as Eva and Shane were to each other.
I loved the commentary on literature and the stigma around romance as a genre, and seeing that both authors could appreciate each other’s works.
Williams weaves a beautiful story about trauma, second chances, mothers, and facing your fears, all through the lens of Black love
This is definitely one of my favorite contemporary romances.
