This was beautifully written novel with stunning lyrical prose, a lush vivid world! Plus the I love the magic which having read her duology I was familiar with it.
It definitely started off a little slow as the world building took priority however once the plot started to ramp up, I was absolutely sucked in and i loved all the twists & reveals. The romance was great and I loved that we got a 'touch her again and you die' moment. Absolutely sucker for that
I enjoyed Liyens character but I did feel that Zhangwei was a little bland and lacked emotional depth I wanted.
Overall though I did love this just not an all time favourite like her duology is.
