The Children's House of Belsen by Hetty E. Verolme

5.0

I remember Hetty sitting in front of my class in the assembly talking about the horrors she endured and all the hardships she had to go through and living with PTSD since ww2. I was hanging on every word and I got to talk to her 1 on 1 after and she is such a resilient and kind woman. She signed my book with a lovely message and I still think about it to this day.

This book was really good at wrapping you up into the horrific world of Belsen and you constantly find yourself thinking about how strong those people were to survive that and keep on going. I found myself constantly thinking about that lovely, tiny elderly lady when I was reading from the perspective of her younger self.

This is an amazing and horrific book written by an amazing inspirational woman.
