Road Dogs by Elmore Leonard

3.0

Leonard has a very cinematic style, so it's no surprise several of his other works have been made into films. This book was very dialogue-heavy, to a degree that sometimes it's even hard to tell which character is speaking, but it made the story move along quickly.

There was just enough action to keep me interested, not too much too lose me. Each character has his (or her - especially her in this case) own angle in the book which keeps the plot unpredictable and almost seems improvisational at times. I understand some of these characters are reintroduced from former works, so I'll have to check them out. It wasn't as dark as I was expecting, I guess I was thinking it would more pulp.

Still, I had not read Leonard before and I liked it well enough to read something else of his, so I'll definitely do so in the future.
