๐ ๐๐ผ๐ผ๐ธ ๐๐ป๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป: Any Trope But You by Victoria Avaline
๐ ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฒ๐: Standalone
๐ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐น๐: E-book on Kindle. Borrowed from Libby app.
๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฟ๐ฒ: Contemporary romance
๐ ๐ง๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐: Enemies-to-lovers, wilderness vibes, fish out of water, opposites attract.
๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ป๐ผ๐ฝ๐๐ถ๐: Margot is a romance author who tanked her career when itโs found out that she doesnโt believe in love. Her sister organizes a writing trip to Alaska to help her write her next masterpiece, but instead she meets Forrest - the living embodiment of all of her book boyfriends.
๐ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐: I always worry that the romance author trope is going to bother me. But this was so well done I canโt say I minded at all.
Margot was funny, and broken in the most relatable of ways. Forrestโฆ well he was definitely a fun MMC. Heโs all of the best things, coupled with someone who is human and broken and vulnerable all at once.
I thought this book had some great balance. Laughs balanced with moments that made my heart ache. Spice balanced with banter and tension. Great dialogue, coupled with a dual POV that had some heartbreaking internal monologues. Really impressive for a debut novel, for sure.
Iโve been forcing myself to explain ratings better, so for posterityโs sake the .5 off was because it didnโt have an epilogue. I get it, not everyone wants one. Sometimes Iโm more lenient. But the end of this butted right up against the last page, and it felt a tiny bit abrupt.
