I used the fact that Illumicrate had picked this as their May pick help spur me into reading it, and it was so cute I could barely function.

Her sister organizes a writing trip to Alaska to help her write her next masterpiece, but instead she meets Forrest - the living embodiment of all of her book boyfriends.

๐ŸŒŸ ๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜„: I always worry that the romance author trope is going to bother me. But this was so well done I canโ€™t say I minded at all.

Margot was funny, and broken in the most relatable of ways. Forrestโ€ฆ well he was definitely a fun MMC. Heโ€™s all of the best things, coupled with someone who is human and broken and vulnerable all at once.

I thought this book had some great balance. Laughs balanced with moments that made my heart ache. Spice balanced with banter and tension. Great dialogue, coupled with a dual POV that had some heartbreaking internal monologues. Really impressive for a debut novel, for sure.

Iโ€™ve been forcing myself to explain ratings better, so for posterityโ€™s sake the .5 off was because it didnโ€™t have an epilogue. I get it, not everyone wants one. Sometimes Iโ€™m more lenient. But the end of this butted right up against the last page, and it felt a tiny bit abrupt.
