The Beauty and the Beast by Gabrielle-Suzanne de Villeneuve
4.0
This is the first Mina Lima edition of a book I have read. I also own The Secret Garden. I would have liked more interactive stuff but maybe there isn't much to do with Beauty and the Beast. I don't know. I'll have to read The Secret Garden and see how many interactive items there are in that one to compare. The illustrations were pretty. Now to the story. Okay this is not Disney's version at all. First of all there are lots of fairies, evil and good, that cause all of the story to happen. We don't find out till the very end though. Also, the Beast is nice. Belle was a Princess and was kidnapped and then switched with a dead baby to be raised by a good man with 5 older children. The fairies already set into motion her going to the Monster's house later in life. For the monster's spell to be broken Belle has to agree to marry him. Oh did I mention the Beast is her cousin. Hmm. This was written in the 1700s so I guess it was normal but still. Glad I read it but a really strange tale.
