Ceremony and secret words. True names and bindings. As I read through this, I was struck by the similarities between these rituals of conjurations and the thought processes of the sovereign citizens movement. To think that supernatural powers are constrained by the language of humans seems… wishful at best? Like how a person might think they can say the magic words and a judge of the state will be forced to let them go free or drop all charges. Seems a little far-fetched. But then again, the gods do love hubris, if we learned anything from the myths.
