Papillon by Henri Charrière

4.0

A fantastic yarn that you just have to immerse yourself in. I've recently watched the most recent movie adaption starring Charlie Hunnam and so I'm glad I got to read the book.

The book is the story about Papi (Papillon / Henri Charriere) who is imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit and then spends the next 10 years trying to escape. It's a fantastic tale and one that you just have to go with sometimes. There were some bits that I really wanted more information about, and I felt it ended rather abruptly but it's well written. It is a great adventure story.

Is this a total non-fiction book? Did it all happen? Who knows but as a summer read on a small madivian island - perfect.
