The only thing that kept this from being a 5 star read for me is how much it definitely feels like a YA novel, but everything, everything else about this book I LOVED. I marked this as a spoiler to say I love a monster, I love a creature book so so much and the beginning felt so hard to connect to under the premise of this being just a guy, a serial killer who’s operated for decades, effects power and the whole police force just does nothing about. Moving it to a supernatural monster in the tunnels felt so right and I found myself thinking that more and more on my own before it was even introduced properly as a theory. I love the description of this monster and the claustrophobia of the tunnels where it lives. This book teeters right on a 5 star read for me truly.
