The Lightbulb Forest: The Collected Short Fiction of Ali House by Ali House

5.0

The short stories are glimpses into many amazing worlds; complete stories on their own with clear world/ character development, yet so many I want to know more about. Among the original stories includes re-imaginings of classics, and background of some characters from the Six Elemental. I appreciated the mix of longer and brief works, and the categorization by genre. The fantasy section was rife with imaginative visuals and then the thriller /dystopian/drama sections were gripping; many with a heavy humanity. Favourites include Invisible Boy, Le Trou de Lapin, Jyaan's Magical Curiosities and Stalwart Advice; Second Life. And a few set in Newfoundland and Labrador for good measure.
