This book started off very slowly. At first, I thought it was in a similar world as Land of Stories which was very confusing. The intro didn't hook me but I kept reading because of how much I love Land of Stories. I can't say I love how the book turned out. There was way too much backstory in the beginning and it's much smoother if it is spaced out. I was given the conflict before the other characters which put me in the all-knowing view. Because I knew more about the characters and I was told the trip, not much was surprising. I love when books surprise me and this one didn't do it. There were some great lessons in this book but they all felt pushed onto the reader. They were a bit forced which made them less impactful. Overall, I recommend reading Land of Stories because it is an amazing series but I do not recommend this book.
