Holden Caulfield is a very divisive protagonist, and whether you enjoy Catcher in the Rye is unfortunately heavily dependent on your fondness for him. If you hate him, you’ll hate the book and if you love him, you’ll love it.

I’m afraid I was terribly charmed by him throughout the entire thing. From remembering how a girl he liked preferred to play checkers all the way to watching his sister ride on the carousel at the end. I’ve had so many people tell me that they absolutely hated this book that I can’t believe how much I adore it. So stupidly charming.
