I really liked Heartstopper which got me to read this book. The book was easy to read and the mystery of Solitaire kept me wanting to finish it. Unfortunately, the Solita re happenings in the book felt somewhat absurd which made it hard to really get into the story. I liked the friendship between Tori and Michael, but the dynamics between Tori and the other characters felt somewhat unnatural and it would have been nice to have a bit more background. For example, I have no idea how Becky and Tori kept being friends for so long when Tori was getting more and more depressed. It also shocked me how depressed Tori actually was and how she barely received any help from the people around her.
I found that I kept expecting Tori to find romance, but it was nice to find a book focused on persoal development and deali g with mental illness instead of finding romantic love.
