Without going into any details (because to do so would invite spoilers) I had considered part of the whodunnit of this story without considering it in full because in order to guess the full plot you would need to accept some pretty unbelievable stuff. On the other hand, it was still an enjoying read and I had fun with it.

Nurse Leatheram was an interesting POV character. On the one hand, she wasn't Captain Hastings (thank goodness). But on the other hand, she had definite flaws as well. While I did appreciate her hesitance to speculate on who did the crime without having facts about the case, I found myself missing Hasting's wild leaps to guess at the murderer.

There is the usual caveat here of the book containing stereotypes that were considered normal in their time yet really shouldn't be normalized, though it seemed like less of that than usual.
