Changeless
by Gail Carriger
I'd forgotten just how much I love reading about Alexia's adventures in Victorian England. Her lack of a soul makes her practical and blunt - a nice contrast to the other characters who let propriety get in the way of everything else. The other characters in this book are fantastic to read about - I loved getting reacquainted with some of my favourites from the first book but there are some great new additions which just added an extra something to the universe Alexia inhabits. The title was an interesting choice. It fits with the problem revolving around the supernatural creatures but otherwise so much has changed since meeting Alexia in Soulless. I liked how her relationship has evolved with Lord Maccon since now Alexia is a married lady complete with title and all that. There are a few surprises in this book - some I was fairly sure were coming but some I was not expecting and yet it fit so well with everything else.
I'm not normally a historical novel kind of person and steampunk typically doesn't interest me in the slightest but I do enjoy this series. It's so very silly and I think people either love that or hate it. I appreciate it and I will definitely be reading book #3 in the Parasol Protectorate series.
