The Merciless by Danielle Vega
3.0

Being the new girl in town can be tough, but nobody should have to face what Sofia does here.
When she turns up at her new school she makes a tentative friendship with Brooklyn-a girl who seems to know the strength of her own mind. Before too long Sofia is sought out by a popular clique, led by Riley, who convince her that they can become her new friends.
There’s something rather odd about all of them from the outset. Sofia acts in ways that don’t make much sense, and yet they offer friendship. To someone who is used to not fitting in, this seems a lifeline.
That lifeline quickly becomes something far more dangerous.
Before we know it Riley has engineered a situation where they are carrying out an exorcism on Brooklyn. The girls lock themselves in a new home and torture one another in their mission to do right by God.
I found myself repelled by the actions of all the girls, and rather concerned at how rapidly things escalate. I also can’t help but worry at how detached from real world these girls prove themselves.
Mean Girls through and through, with some extra gore.
