James Bond, Vol. 2: Eidolon by Jason Masters, Warren Ellis

3.0

I enjoyed this, but not nearly as much as the first volume. The story here is significantly denser, but still pretty stereotypical espionage stuff. The action is still strong, but the art as a whole lacked the tight, brutal choreography that I liked so much in the prior issues. I still like Ellis’ version of Bond, but he’s better when he’s stoic and calculating, and less so when he needs to he charismatic (which he’s supposed to be in this volume, to middling success).

I wish that this creative team had another volume, because as much as the first one surprised me with how much I enjoyed it, this one fell more flat. Still a decent read with some great moments, but significantly more forgettable.
