The author said all Russians are evil. Yeah. OK I lied, he said Russians from the FSB are evil. When Americans from the CIA are all heroes doing what's right. Like yeah, does he hear himself?
Also Svetlana is exactly the same as Erica. Seems in addition to "they're family" we've also unlocked another character creation technique, "they're clones!" Russian Ben when? (Also Svetlana is one of the good Russians because she turned to work for the CIA uwu)
Also Zoe (who was insanely crushing on the male protag just a few books back) got retconned into a lesbian (falling in love at first sight for Svetlana who is in fact just Erica which makes me wonder why she hadn't fell for Erica with all the time she spent around her) for cheap representation LOL. The author was all "look I represented yall at the risk of my books getting banned! I'm such a martyr! Doing what's right!" Like the greatest oppression is toward authors who put LGBT characters in their books rather than, yknow, LGBT people themselves? Yeah like keep moving yourself blech.
