I Kissed Shara Wheeler by Casey McQuiston

5.0

Wholesome. LGBTQ. Adorable.

I absolutely loved this book. It was lighthearted, fun, and a unique way to blend the genres of romance and mystery together. I really appreciated the vast LGBTQ+ representation we see throughout the book, and McQuiston did a beautiful job touching on sensitive topics like gender, homophobia, the exploration of sexuality and self, and how damaging and toxic a more conservative, small-town can be for growing minds.

Chloe, Rory, and Smith are all lovable MC's in my opinion, and while Shara is outlined as manipulative and mean, I feel she's just a teenage girl trying to break out of the shell that society created for her (I'm also 29 and seeing this with my adult glasses).

5/5 stars, I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a no-spice, heartwarming, fun LGBTQ+ story.
