Luna: New Moon by Ian McDonald
2.0
DNF, got two thirds of the way through. I just didn't particularly care for anyone or anything that was happening, the only character of interest being Marina. That said it's a good book with cool ideas about colonising the moon, and how that would be a stepping stone out into the universe. The world is meticulously built and it felt very grimey. However, I don't care too much for medieval politics in space, nor the huge amounts of sex/sexual scenes. The perspective and tense change constantly and there is a lot of waffle and backstory (flashbacks) that take me out of the story. I actually gave up when I read a sentence that had a 'then' in place of a 'than'... Still, I own River of Gods and will see what that is like. Not the moon novel we were hoping for, but a decent read anyway.
