Piranesi by Susanna Clarke

5.0

this was an almost 5 stars and I think it would deserve it but the ending felt a little lukewarm to me. BUT!!! it doesn't mean that I didn't absolutely love this book. For the past few days I was either reading Piranesi or thinking about Piranesi. Its a dark kind of psychological fantasy which is done so well. I constantly felt so unsettled the whole time even when nothing big was really happening..
there's just this constant tension and eerie vibe throughout the whole book.I don't think I've ever read anything that made me feel this.
I'd recommend going into this knowing nothing about the plot. I think it's even more enjoyable that way.

EDIT: i just finished my reread
beautiful. agonizing.
The ending was NOT lukewarm!! I was stupid it is anything but lukewarm it made me CRY
I'm so glad I reread this its just so much better a second time when you know what's coming and it's just inevitable.
One of my favourite books ever. maybe even THE favourite book.
