Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett

lighthearted slow-paced

2.0

I wanted to love this so badly, because I have so many friends who adore it, but I really should have trusted my instincts when I DNF'd this twice last year. Annoyingly slow and extremely overwritten, I just could not buy into the flimsy plot or the (lack of) chemistry between the main characters. Hated how the autistic-coded Emily Wilde often felt like the butt of Bambleby's jokes. He is an insufferable main character - self-centered, annoyingly elitist, lazy - and and Em - who is ambitious and brilliant - deserves so much better.
