The Inseparables
by Simone de Beauvoir
Kind of speechless? So beautiful truly.
So truthful to every close single female friendship I’ve ever had it’s insane, from childhood to now. Sylvie’s knowledge that she loves Andrée more than Andrée loves her but also being incapable of expressing that deep love cause of fear and what’s proper… yuh.
I knew it would end in tragedy from about 30 pages in (not sure why then seeing as the quote on the front of the book says “Heartbreaking” but anyways) but what I wasn’t ready for was the afterword about the real people in Simone de Beauvoir’s life that it was based off, that knowledge is what left me feeling …stagnant? Idk the right term but yeah
