I will admit… The book was entertaining enough. It kept me mildly interested, but that’s about all. Thane (Why the heck are you Tom Hiddleston’s Loki in my mind?) was the only character besides Kael’s that I genuinely cared about. 
Roark and Lyra were nice enough as a couple, but the princely revelations at the end? The betrayal of Thane? I don’t know. It felt messy, that ending. Will I read book two? Probably. Will I hope it’ll be a step up? For sure.
