Água Viva by Clarice Lispector

5.0

"In writing I can't manufacture something as in a painting, when I use my craft to mix a color. But I'm trying to write to you with my whole body, loosing an arrow that will sink into the tender and neuralgic center of the word."

"In my core I have the strange impression that I don't belong to the human species."

"It suddenly occurred to me that you don't need order to live. There is no pattern to follow and the pattern itself doesn't even exist: I am born."

A true masterpiece, and unique stream of consciousness written by an exceptional human. Clarice Lispector has a mind unlike any other I have read, and I felt connected to her as we read. It was intimate feeling as though I were in her thoughts and emotions. Her unique story being born in Ukraine and moving to Brazil, so different and provided her with many different experiences to write from. I love this work and hope to continue exploring her.

A definite re-read and book to keep with me always.
