Creature of the Night
by Kate Thompson
Bobby's mom moves him out of Dublin and his crazy car-thieving-filled life into the Irish countryside, and he encounters good people who teach him farming skills and change his perspective on life. And there are faeries. Bobby was a great, realistic character. I was totally drawn into his first-person narration. I loved this book as a gritty coming of age story, but the mystery/suspense aspects of the book seemed like tangents to me. If the mysterious faerie plot line had been left out and the end hadn't wrapped up just a tad too neatly, this book could have gotten four stars for sure.
