Death in the Downline by Maria Abrams
4.0
“I will allow myself to dream without limits.
I am making money doing what I love.
I attract positive people.
I love LuminUS.”
DEATH IN THE DOWNLINE by Maria Abrams follows Drew after losing her writing job at Buzzfeed and moving back to her small town to live with her dad while she looks for a new job. She reconnects with one of her old friends, Steph, who convinces her to be a LuminUS boss babe 🤑 then people start dying…obviously.
I love a good MLM thriller and the mixed elements in this story were really fun! A majority of the characters were insufferable and the things they did laughable, which really lightened up the mood of what could be considered a really dark story!
I honestly don’t think I’ll ever tire of MLM-focused books - there’s something about people continuing to get sucked into them despite all the podcasts, docs, and books explicitly telling you why you should avoid them that just makes for such great, bingeable content.
Definitely recommend picking this one up if you love beauty industry wrongs and a woman on a mission to save her best friend.
Thanks to Quirk Books for the early copy for review!
