Did not finish book. Stopped at 50%.
**I was provided with an ARC through the publisher in exchange for an honest review**

Now I was super excited for this book because it was said to include so many of the tropes which I really love but sadly I ended up having to put it down. But it is definitely a me thing so don’t let my opinion put you off!

My mains issues were:
- The pacing: Though fast and easy to get through, the speed at which everything was happening just confused me so many things weren’t being explained properly.

-The relationships: While the already established relationships in the book had a lot going for them, the new ones being formed developed so fast and started from pretty much nowhere… the main central relationship/romance of the story being the main culprit here.

And then there were some things that didn’t make sense to me at all which I partially blame on the pacing again but also maybe because they’re better explained later on in the book?

Now I stopped reading this over two months ago so my memory of these things may be a little off but I remember one character claiming to have total amnesia of their past and their whole family but then instantly recognising someone as their father upon seeing them? Like I feel like this should have been a big twist/shocking reveal in the story but the way the writing led up to the scene did not make it come across that way at all.
Another thing was the fact that a character who had adopted a fake name having flashbacks and a family member referring to them with their fake name at a time that it is made very clear they hadn’t taken on that name yet? This just felt like the author was obviously trying to hide the characters name for it to be a big reveal later and I’m probably just being really picky here but it just felt very counterproductive…

Anyways I decided to put the book down because the stuff stated above was annoying me more than I was eager to continue the story.
