War of Hearts by S. Young, Samantha Young

2.0

“And yet he couldn’t stop.
He couldn’t stop touching and tasting and wanting her.
Needing her.”

While this was a fun read, it was fluffy and kind of thoughtless, something to read to easily be swept into a different world, a different life. But there are so many better well-done fantasy romance novels, that go deeper into the romantic relationship and make it much more realistic and authentic. In that case, A Court of Thorns and Roses is magnitudes better, portraying a raw, deep love, whereas War of Hearts seems superficial and fake. This novel doesn’t go past lust and the origin story of the main character seems hastily put together as do her powers. It seems the author takes the easy way out of the battles and challenges the characters face, making is unrealistic and honestly very very eye-rolling to read. If a quality fantasy romance is what you’re looking for, you won’t find it here, but if a fluffy feel-good read is the goal, this is the novel for you.
