Candlelight is the prequel to Luminosity and is told from Nathan's point of view. I just happened to read Luminosity first and after reading this prequel I have a little better understanding about Nathan. This prequel can be read before or after Luminosity but I highly recommend before. Nathan is terrorized by his own family…but then again they are demons so I guess fear, pain and anger are key ingredients in making him the best demon possible.
Nathan, one night dreams of a girl that awakes the light in him, causing him to fight against his demon side. When that girl comes to live with his family and he learns she is the sacrifice he must kill to supply the demon world with more power, his pain and suffering continues. That girl, Jasmine, has been living life as a mortal, because isn’t that all there is in the world…just humans. Once she enters the Stevenson household her world changes, as does Nathan’s.
McWilliams introduces us to a demon world full of hate, but with a small glimmer of hope. Let’s see what is in store next!
