my girl really went through it the entire book, she couldn’t catch a break. i really like the way that the experience of women in vietnam was highlighted, it made me feel all of the emotions that frankie was feeling. i also think that it’s really powerful that it ended with frankie being on her own to demonstrate her strength and independence. this is really inspirational for that time, as well as this generation.
