It feels absurd to give an almost 40 hour book that I finished such a low rating but…the end of this book was by far the best part. I enjoyed the first one, but I cared more about the side characters than the main two, and this book has a whole new setting. The author definitely leans far more into her idea of 1700’s sexism and depravity which is not my thing. And yet, will I try to read the 3rd book? Probably!
