Brynlee and Deacon spent many summers together in Block Island but grew apart and went their separate ways because of their age difference; in the present, the two run into each other back on the island, and Brynlee’s crush is still present. They are going to be in the same town, and their relationship quickly develops (so much so that Brynlee feels no anxiety proposing that the two get married for help with his daughter). However, Brynlee is bringing her own secret into their marriage, and it could affect her future. Her family has also been worried about this, and it has caused a strain between them when they are usually so strong. I really liked Brynlee’s secret thoughts that popped up every so often.
