I’m not sure what I expected, but it wasn’t what I read. I found the main character difficult to connect to, mainly because she seemed whiney and naive. I felt like other characters made fun of her age a lot, which would have been funny if it weren’t so painfully true. I didn’t have everything figured out by 17, but I hope I was slightly less annoying.
Additionally, I didn’t feel like the book had a “big question”. It kind of just seemed like we were chugging along through one girl’s life for no reason other than she was willing to tell the story. I wasn’t bored, but I wasn’t impressed either.
I did really enjoy reading the book, and found it to be a good, mostly light, YA novel.
