Inés of My Soul by Isabel Allende
5.0

I love historical fiction, and if a book I'm reading makes me look at maps and do further research, then it's a winner. Now, I will admit, I am a Spanish teacher, and I should know the history of Chile and it's founding, but my heart is in Spain, not Latin America. However, this book piqued my interest, and now between the fictionalized accounts in this book and my research showing it's not that far off the truth at all, I feel more knowledgeable on the topic of Chile, and interested in continuing research. And Allende is, as always, an exceptional story teller, choosing a strong woman as her narrater, one who has often been ignored in historical accounts of the time. Highly recommended to anyone who can appreciate these aspects in a book.
