The God of the Woods by Liz Moore

Did not finish book.
Was a bit too drawn out for my liking but I've seen reviews of people who really appreciated that. It is really good writing.......I would've tried to stick with it if it weren't for the fact that the characters were driving me crazy. I get that women in mid 20th century were forced into certain roles and often beaten down to obedience and internalization........but dear god the spinelessness of Louise and Alice, not to mention the horrifying men in their lives....I just had enough.

Also especially in this stage of late-capitalism we as a society are in today, I really don't care for more reminders of how the rich are above the law and how easily the working class are forced into complicity, manipulated against each other, and made into scapegoats.

At least Judyta, Barbara, and TJ were stronger characters who took hold of their own autonomy.
