I think that there is an outline of a story here that is really good. The bones are here but the depth necessary for this to be a very good book was missing for me. Just because it is YA doesn't mean that there can't be more development for the romance central to the plot. I know that they are in love but I don't know if I believe they are in love.

Again, the bones are Very Good. I just think the execution could have used some work. It isn't that there are a lot of plots going on it is that there is a lot of exposition necessary for the plots that she has set up and I think that is where it falls apart. The characters themselves are likable. Hazel especially is a great heroine to really delve into, she needs more depth. The love story needed more development. Literally suddenly on a random page someone is thinking about kissing another character and I truly still don't know where that desire came from within the story itself. Just.. it's messy.
