Ducks, Newburyport by Lucy Ellmann

5.0

I read this book 50% for the challenge of reading a 1,000+ page book primarily comprised of a single run-on sentence and 50% for the intrigue sparked by seeing my hometown in the title. I ended up genuinely loving it. Yes, it is long, and, at times, difficult to follow, but it is also incredibly clever, funny, and poignant; Lucy Ellmann has put great care into crafting her narrator. It does actually have a plot, and I am looking forward to reading it again now that I know how it ends (though I'm not sure when I will ever be able to find the time to do so).
