Marrying Mr. Perfect by Lizzie Shane

3.0

This ebook was available for free on Amazon, and, intrigued by the premise, I decided to give it a go. As a Bachelor fan, I adored the idea of the story taking place in a fictional version of the Bachelor where the protagonist is secretly in love with her best friend who becomes the next "Mr. Perfect" (aka Bachelor). I've read a couple different Bachelor-esque love stories of varying quality, so I was hooked. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, which is told from both the male and female leads' points of view and has quite likable main characters, albeit fairly stereotypical supporting characters. However, it was EXTREMELY predictable, and, at times, a little boring. Predictability isn't always bad (I love knowing there's a happy ending and who doesn't love certain romance tropes?), but there were pretty much ZERO twists and turns to this story to add intrigue. I guess in that way, it's not very anxiety-inducing, if that's what you're looking for. There's also a strange and rather unfinished subplot involving one of the television producers, that was never quite wrapped up and it's unclear whether it may be a thread through the series, the producer gets her own book, or what we got was supposed to her happy ending. Regardless, for a free book, it's a definite download. Now the question is whether I spring to purchase the rest in the series...
