This Will Only Hurt a Little
by Busy Philipps
I really enjoyed Busy Philipps' memoir. This book was chronologically written rather than chapters that are more like essays. I think I prefer this type of memoir. I could identify with Busy's childhood and teenager years, since I'm only a few years older than her. The pop culture mentions were relatable to me. I read Babysitters Club books! I love Tori Amos, Nirvana and Arcade Fire. And I watched Freaks & Geeks when it aired in 1999-2000, 1 of my favorite short lived series besides My So Called Life which I *still* can't believe was cancelled after 1 season. While there was a little rambling I didn't mind too much. I appreciated her anecdotes about James Franco, and actor friends of hers. I felt for the things she has gone through that she describes in her memoir. Definitely feel like I could be friends with her if I lived in L.A. which i don't.
If you like celebrity memoirs and you've watched Busy in any of her work, it's not a waste of time to read it.
