Thank you so much to Laura and Valentine PR for the advance copy!
Laura is an auto-buy author for me. I have been so eager to get my hands on her new series, and this first installment was so good! In this book, we get to know Easton Chadwick, the twin brother of Emerson Chadwick, who was the FMC in Beating Heart from Laura’s Magnolia Falls series. He’s a big time lawyer who is suddenly assigned with the task of being a mentor to the new hire, who is coincidentally also the boss’s daughter, Henley Holloway. Only, she’s nothing like what he expected…in all the best ways!
I do love a good workplace romance, and this one was full of forbidden vibes, steamy looks, and a whole lot of banter. I ate it up! Easton has a reputation for being such a shark in the workplace, but it doesn’t take long for his walls to start crumbling around Henley. And Henley, she just wants to be respected and earn her place at the firm beyond her last name. I simply love the relationship that develops between them, whether that be in the office, on the pickleball court, or…elsewhere.
And you know it’s not a Laura book without an amazing set of text threads. This was just such a fun read, and I adore Easton’s family. Of course, you know my eyes are locked on our single daddy prospect for a future book. This was a wonderful start to the series, and I am so eager to find out what happens to the rest of the crew!
