With the technical jargon and my failure to really connect with the characters of Paladin and Eliasz whose narrative made up half of the book, I couldn't really fall in love with the book. But I always enjoy a novel take on what aspect of late stage capitalism is going to be the death of society: in Autonomous, it's corporate monopolies on intellectual property and a dysfunctional healthcare system suffering from corporate greed. Huh. Sounds familiar.

The book also explores ideas around autonomy and ownership, connecting human slavery and AI in an interesting way. Thought provoking but not an immersive read.
