Wonder Woman (2016-) #2 by Greg Rucka, Nicola Scott

5.0

This was so fantastic. I've enjoyed everything I've read by Rucka even though it hasn't been much. I've never even read his previous WW work (though I just picked up the first collected trade that came out yesterday, and I'm super excited to read that and more from him). But after reading WW: Rebirth and WW #1, I instantly fell in love with how he writes her.

My all-time favorite character (from comics, books, films, etc.) is Batman. Batman is who I was most excited for with Rebirth as both of the main series sound amazing, not to mention the upcoming Snyder All-Star Batman. But that's changed. This is honestly my favorite series right now (and I LOVE the two Batman series); I've just been really craving amazing WW stories recently, and this gives me that in spades.

As I said, the first two issues were great, but now we finally get the first issue with Nicola Scott as the artist. I fell in love with her work when I read Black Magick #1 when it first came out, and though I wasn't able to continue getting that series due to financial constraints, I was really looking forward to reading the rest in trades. And after reading vol 1, Scott and Rucka definitely made an amazing team, and Scott quickly became one of my all-time favorite artists. That's continued here. Her facial work and gorgeous backgrounds are so utterly fantastic, and I don't think this book could be nearly as good with another artist, even though Rucka has amazing words.

I really can't say enough good about this series, and I love how Rucka is writing two WW stories at once with two different writers.
