Waiting for You by Susane Colasanti

4.0

I still remember reading When It Happens, my first Colasanti book, and being ashamed that this is what YA literature had come to. With Waiting For You, however, I am so so so happy that someday I can hand this one off to my future daughter and have her gain a deeper understanding of social anxiety disorders, how healthy relationships actually work, and what it means to empower yourself. The title, cover, and synopsis are all misleading, because this novel is about more than typical high school boyfriend drama, and Marisa is a beautiful, well-developed, dynamic female character with a great narrative voice. It may look embarrassing to read, but it's definitely worth your while, especially for fans of Sarah Dessen.
