I will be honest and say I forgot I signed up for this book but was pleasantly surprised it was sent to me since I had this book on my TBR for months. I was intrigued by the premise and a sort of new setting for me as a reader as I don't think I ever read anything that focused on healing INSIDE a wellness center.

The two characters are vastly different and grew up in a very different atmosphere/home.

On one hand we had the rich girl who on the outside had it all but was forced and morphed in the dark to become her father’s creature.

On the other hand, we had a poor kid who was raised by his single father who grew up to become a beloved rockstar but suffered from the ghosts of his pasts.

I never compared the two backstories and thought he had it worse or she did. It both shaped them into the people they are today and despite it all wanted to be better, but I don't think Hali herself thought it was ever possible. She endured too much for too long in the hands of her demon of a father to think some sort of light can be returned to her.

The journey for Hali was intense and you saw her be able to finally start to become the person she could of been for years if she was allowed to. The past scenes where we see what her father did were tough to get through.

I really appreciated the friendships they both had outside of their relationship.

The ending was a bit abrupt and vague. It is a HFN for me as we do not get much of a conclusion about their future.

This book is actually connected to Samantha' ''Folkstone'' series which I have not read yet but will one day! I don't know much about those books or how much Hali appears in them but I bet you we will see her villain self in that series a get a good understanding of the things she did firsthand.
