The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner

3.0

Dunno, I guess this was groundbreaking for it's time, but I've read so many other books with a retarded, or animal, or otherwise unreliable narrator that the Retard chapter didn't really pose a problem and only seemed gimmicky. The last two seemed like the stuff of straight up high school summer reading book. The chapter narrated by the suicidal guy who slept with his sister seems like a pretty good approximation of the thought process of anyone who's ever made a "What the FUCK have I done" mistake. I kinda respect that, but I still have no idea what went on in it. Oh yea, spoilers. Probably shouldn't have read that bit.
