ananeverlands 's review for:
Sadie
by Courtney Summers
where do i even start with this review?
this book was so raw and it spoke so much truth about the fact that there are missing girls everyday unaccounted for, and most people don't care enough or they are scared of that fact so they choose to ignore it...
anyways, it made me cry
here are some of my favorite, most authentic quotes:
“I realized pretty early on that the who didn’t really matter so much.
That anybody who listens to me, I end up loving them just a little.”
“Paul taught me a person committed to silence can suggest importance, strength. So long as they’re a man, I mean. It’s not an option when you’re a girl, not unless you want people to think you’re bitch.”
“It’ll h-heal f-fine.”
“It’ll heal ugly.”
But most things do.”
“Girl with a busted face, torn-up arm, begging for the opportunity to save other girls. Why do I have to beg for that?”
“Like all real monsters, he hides in plain sight.”
“Sadie must’ve told me every time she saw me how much she hated him. I didn’t listen. I thought she was being a kid but … she was never a kid.” this quote hit me specially hard because of the amount of times that kids tell the truth and are simply not believed because they are 'kids'.
“Girls go missing all the time. And ignorance is bliss. I didn’t want this story because I was afraid. I was afraid of what I wouldn’t find and I was afraid of what I would.”
