Tavern Tale: A Sapphic Side Quest by Kristina W. Kelly
3.0
very cute read! a lovely magic system and tone, but a romance that left me wanting
there was a lot to enjoy here! my favorite part of this story was the atmosphere- divine repairing her well at the fountain and fusing saph's hand, the walk through the holy city, and the super cozy feeling of the last chapter were very vivid and beautiful to experience. i think the world-building was pretty well done as well, especially considering the small page count. i also loved the fantasy deodorant and leafy saying "rootless ones" (i love sentient trees bad)
i wish i was, however, a bit more invested in the romance aspect of this. saph & divine were cute to read, especially after the halfway mark, but were only ever that. their dialogue early on was very stilted, and i never found myself caring all that much about their relationship or individual characters
thank you to the author and booksirens for the arc!
