This is a beautiful book written from the perspective of an autistic girl, who changes into a new foster family - desperately awaiting the launch of the space shuttle "Challenger" because at that day she will see her sister again.

A very promising synopsis, beautiful human portraits and heartwarming interactions.

There is a very interesting story to be told and a diamond mind to be explored. When her big sister Brigit prompted Nova to run away from their current foster family together they got separated. But Nova doesnt worry. Brigit promised they'd watch the launch together and Birgit always keeps her promises.

While the depth of character exploration not by but through Novas thought and emotions is wonderful to read and raw in a way I have seldom seen in recent ya books not matter whether contemporary or fantasy. The twist was very predictable and took away whole lot from the story and especially the emotional connection I had with it. Thought I liked the start of the idea the thing as a whole has been used in this variety too often by now and completely separated me from what was happening.

Though I can't say anything about the representation I know that the author does have a lot of experience with autistic children and foster families. I know that mustn't mean anything but it gives me a little confidence. I'm still very curious what other people think of the representation.

So. It is a beautiful story and definitely read-worthy, just not extraordinary. Still loved it.
